About Us
West Texas Karate is a Black Belt Leadership and Excellence School. We offer certified rank in Tang Soo Do, American Kenpo Karate, and Hapkido from White Belt to Black Belt and Beyond. We practice empty hand and foot techniques such as punching and kicking, forms, self-defense, sparring, and traditional martial arts weaponry. However, our students quickly realize that our school focuses also on discipline, self-esteem, control, balance, coordination, agility and much, much more! We have a great group of instructors that can't wait to help you start or continue living in the Marital Way!
Our Story
West Texas Karate was founded by International Master Chad Hinkle. With over 40 years experience and training, Master Hinkle wanted to build a school for families, kids, and adults of all ages. Today, that school has grown and offers training for ages 4 to Adult, with many families training together. With programs such as Tang Soo Do and American Kenpo Karate, Leadership Club, Traditional Weapons Club, there is something for everyone in the family.
Our Mission
Our mission is to teach traditional karate and help our students grow both mentally and physically toward their goals! We offer certified rank in both Tang Soo Do and American Kenpo, beginner to advanced, from White Belt to Black Belt and beyond!
International Master Chad Hinkle
International Master Hinkle is a 6th Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do, a 4th Degree in American Kenpo Karate, and a 2nd Degree in Hapkido.
While he is a multi-time National and International Grand Champion, his real focus it to teach the great families of West Texas real-world self defense best practices and develop strong confident community leaders.
Expecting all students to give THEIR very best every class, he has trained well over 100 students to Black Belt in multiple martial arts with most continuing on to 2nd degree Black Belt and beyond!
Senior Master Alicia Hinkle
Senior Master Alicia Hinkle is a 5th Degree Senior Master in Tang Soo Do, a 3nd Degree Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate, and a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Hapkido. She began her training when she was looking for an activity that her family to participate in that would develop their courage, confidence, and self-defense capabilities.
She is the Director of Promotions and heads the Dragons Program for our youngest kids at West Texas Karate. She has years of experience working with children at home, work, and church. She too is a multi-time National and International Grand Champion who can't wait to work with your families on the values that Martial Arts can bring!
With six kids of their own, they understand the challenges that our children and families face these days, and look forward to challenging everyone to overcome all obstacles! No matter your abilities, you will benefit from training at West Texas Karate in Lubbock!
