About Us

West Texas Karate is a Black Belt Leadership and Excellence School. We offer certified rank in Tang Soo Do, American Kenpo Karate, and Hapkido from White Belt to Black Belt and Beyond. We practice empty hand and foot techniques such as punching and kicking, forms, self-defense, sparring, and traditional martial arts weaponry. However, our students quickly realize that our school focuses also on discipline, self-esteem, control, balance, coordination, agility and much, much more! We have a great group of instructors that can't wait to help you start or continue living in the Marital Way!

Our Story


West Texas Karate was founded by Chief Master Chad Hinkle. With over 30 years experience and training, Master Hinkle wanted to build a school for families, kids, and adults of all ages. Today, that school has grown and offers training for ages 4 to Adult, with many families training together. With programs such as Tang Soo Do and American Kenpo Karate, Leadership Club, Traditional Weapons Club, there is something for everyone in the family.

Our Mission

Our mission is to teach traditional karate and help our students grow both mentally and physically toward their goals! We offer certified rank in both Tang Soo Do and American Kenpo, beginner to advanced, from White Belt to Black Belt and beyond!

Chief Master Chad Hinkle


Master Hinkle is a Chief Master of Tang Soo Do and a 4th Degree of American Kenpo Karate. Since obtaining his yellow belt at the age of seven, Master Hinkle always dreamt of owning his own studio.

Established in 2011, Master Hinkle founded West Texas Karate and has never looked back. Together with Master Alicia Hinkle, they have grown the studio into what it is today. With his experience in training law enforcement and women's only self-defense programs, Master Chad Hinkle strives to offer martial arts and self-defense for everyone.

Master Alicia Hinkle is a Master of Tang Soo Do and 2nd Degree Black Belt of American Kenpo Karate. Mrs. Hinkle began her training when she was looking for an activity for her family to participate in.

Master Alicia Hinkle, Programs Director, helps manage the multiple programs of West Texas Karate and heads the Dragons Program. She has years of experience working with children at home, work, and church. Along with the other certified instructors, Mrs. Hinkle is ready to help your child and family on their journey to success!
